Erica Sutton Friedman is an independent art advisor and collection manager who focuses primarily on Contemporary Art.
Prior to establishing Erica Friedman Art Advisory LLC, she worked at Sotheby’s New York for seven years. In her role as an Assistant Vice President, Client Liaison in Global Business Development, she worked with clients in various capacities including buying and selling artwork as well as managing portfolios. By closely familiarizing herself with existing collections and specific goals, Erica was able to identify unique opportunities for clients across multiple art categories. She is experienced in all aspects of art transactions and has an extensive background in project management from handling large scale consignments to post-sale logistics such as organizing complicated shipments and art installations.
Erica also handles the communication and coordination of valuations by acting as a liaison for her clients to obtain Insurance or Fair Market Value appraisals.
Erica’s goal is to cultivate strong relationships with her clients so she can develop mutually attractive strategies to help build unique portfolios. She holds a Master’s in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, she worked for the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is currently on the Young Acquisitions Committee of the Guggenheim Museum.
